Make the most of your backyard

With all the time we have spent at home over the past few months, it is more important than ever to make the most of your outdoor spaces. If you don’t have a cottage to enjoy this summer, let your backyard become your oasis!

Landscape

Professional or well planned landscaping can add value to your home and personal enjoyment in your outdoor living space. Landscaping adds beauty, offers privacy and helps break up your space into areas, each with their own purpose.

Dine

You’ll want to choose a quality dining set that fits your design style, so you can enjoy many outdoor meals for years to come. Keep comfort in mind – be sure to consider cushions for the chairs and a rug if budget allows.

Grill

If you want to take your BBQ station to the next level, consider a grill with stonework, to create the feel of an outdoor kitchen. This is an investment that will add value to your home if you choose to sell in the future.

Furniture

If you can, choose outdoor furniture that will stand up to the seasons and test of time. You don’t want to have to replace it ever year or two. Once you have chosen your furniture, take good care of it. Protect it from extreme weather as needed. Tuck your cushions away if there is a storm coming and make sure you can cover or store it in the winter months.

Fire

What is better than ending the day by the fire? Whether you create a cozy fire pit area or have an outdoor fireplace*. Bring on the S’mores!

Shade

A purgola or sturdy umbrella is a welcomed piece in any yard, providing shade and privacy on
those hot summer days.

Light

Consider lighting so you can make the most of your outdoor living space. LED patio lights are a great addition to any space, and consider solar powered lighting to guide people through your yard safely
after dark.

Keep these suggestions in mind as you bring new life to your outdoor space this summer. Have fun!
