Ah, summertime, the best time of year to hit the road, drive to a fun destination with the kids, friends or as a couple. Here we will look at many places in Ontario you can go to for a day trip. Explore some of these small towns and beaches as well as other popular attractions!

Prince Edward County
269km | 3-hour drive

Prince Edward County is a beautiful place to drive to. With an amazing sandbank beach that you can enjoy and have a nice walk on the shore line and feel the sand between your toes, or walk the local trails, such as the lake on the mountain in Glenora, a perfect place for a picnic. Other places to visit are Macaulay Heritage Park and History at Mariner Park Museum. So stop by for a fun-filled day with adventures!

Sherman Falls
81km | 1-hour drive

Who doesn’t love waterfalls? This one is close by, too, just in Hamilton. Enjoy a walk through the trails and see Sherman falls!

Wasaga Beach
120km | 2-hour drive

The perfect beach for a day trip with many things to do! Big main beach area, a shopping area on the beach strip, Skull island mini-golfing, skydiving, go-karting, and so much more. We can’t forget about the patios available for after the beach. Get your bathing suit out and visit Wasaga beach with the family!

Royal Botanical Gardens
70km | 1-hour drive 

This magical garden will put you in a good mood! Just in Burlington, enjoy the botanical gardens, and after, pop into Ikea which is minutes away.

Niagara Falls
126km | 1.5-hour drive

If the beach isn’t your cup of tea, Niagara falls is the perfect place to do many fun things like go-karting or see some animals at Safari Niagara. A walk down to the falls to see the fantastic views and spend some quality time with loved ones. Later enjoy a nice dinner at the Rainforest cafe or do some shopping for cool souvenirs.

The Blue Mountains
115km | 2-hour drive

Is a town located in Grey County. Blue mountain has a lot to offer, with so many things you can do such as fine dining, many shops from casual apparel fashion, or sport, as well as many antique shops. For more adventure, you can do lots of activities such as zip-lining, mountain coasters and putting courses, and so much more!

Port Stanley
109km | 1.5-hour drive

This will surprise you! With the cutest town to walk around and take photos in and is right off the beach! Enjoy the views of the lighthouse, beautiful sunsets, and take a ride on Port Stanley terminal rail, which is perfect for the kids. If you’re someone who loves golf Kettle Creek Golf & Country club is the ideal place for you! So visit port Stanley for some family fun! 

Grand Bend
102km | 1.5-hour drive

Big beach area to spend the day lounging on the sand enjoying the warm water! There is a park area for the kids to play in. Many little shops to look through and patios to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner before heading out. There’s also a Starlite drive in the theatre where you can sit down with the family and watch a movie!
