Power Bowl Meal Preparation

Nutritious & Delicious Power Bowls 

Looking for a healthy, quick and extremely flavorful meal option? With a little preparation whipping up a nutritious power bowl is fun and easy! Use an hour or two to cook a variety of healthy ingredients that can be refrigerated and the options are endless. Bowls are such a great solution for busy evenings or a quick packed lunch.

1 ~ ROAST VEGGIES

On large sheet pans roast veggies for 30-40 minutes at 400 degrees F. Your can line pans with parchment paper, and spray or drizzle avocado oil or your favourite cooking oil to coat vegetables. Use salt and pepper to season your veggies or any preferred cooking spices. Cooking time will vary depending on the vegetable. (Sweet potatoes generally take the full 40 minutes) Check your veggies midway to gauge cooking time and flip for even cooking. Once veggies are cooked & cooled, place into airtight containers and store in the fridge for 3-4 days. 

Options Include;

  • Chopped Sweet Potatoes
  • Cauliflower or Broccoli cut into florets
  • Red Onion
  • Red or Yellow Peppers
  • Brussels Sprouts

2 ~ COOK GRAINS

Prepare your favorite grains according to package directions to have refrigerated and ready to add to your bowls.

Healthy options include

  • Quinoa
  • Brown rice
  • Soba noodles

3 ~ PREPARE PROTEINS

Precook fresh chicken or turkey. Bake or grill salmon or your favourite fish. Boil eggs, and refrigerate. Frozen shrimp can be added to bowls immediately before assembly when cooking time is an option.

 

4 ~ ADD FRESH TOPPINGS

When you’re ready to assemble your bowl, here are some yummy toppings to consider:

  • Fresh sliced avocado
  • Shredded Carrot
  • Beets
  • Cucumber
  • Snap Peas
  • Bean Sprouts
  • Chopped Lettuce
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Lime Wedge
  • Pumpkin, Sunflower, Sesame or Hemp Seeds
  • Cashews
  • Cilantro or Fresh Herbs
  • Green Onion

5 ~ Dress your bowl 

Use your favourite dressing such as Goddess, Balsamic, Tahini or Hummus, Tzatziki or Sriracha! Have fun assembling your bowl! Customize them for your family to their liking, or get your kids creating their own. Power bowls are a delicious way to enjoy a variety of nutritious and fresh flavors.
